Tanguy Ndombele is set to join Napoli from Tottenham, but the Italian side have no intention of signing him permanently.
That’s according to journalist Paolo Bargiggia, who provides an update on the Frenchman’s potential move to Italy today.
Ndombele has been linked with a move away from Tottenham throughout this summer after spending the second part of last season on loan with former club Lyon.
That move failed to get his career back on track and he does not remain a part of Antonio Conte’s plans moving forwards.
Thus he looks set to depart and Napoli have raced to the front of the queue for his signature, seeking a season-long loan deal for the midfielder.
Negotiations have been underway with Tottenham for the best part of the last week, with several reports making it clear that a purchase option would be included in the deal.
That would give Napoli the chance to sign Ndombele for a fixed fee next summer, a potential bargain if he proves to be a hit. Bargiggia, though, says there is no intention for them to do so.
“To take on loan such an important player, paid £70m two seasons ago, brings prestige to Serie A and to the team of De Laurentiis, unfairly criticised for the market made until now.
“Tottenham are asking €2m for the loan, but Napoli are only offering €1m. I am optimistic about his arrival.
“The right of redemption will be set between €30m and €35m because Tottenham cannot set a lower figure otherwise they would make a capital loss.
“Napoli’s idea is to let the figure agreed today expire in June 2023 and then retract the purchase.”
Bargiggia then ends by explaining Napoli would spend around €2.5m/year on wages on Ndombele, which corroborates previous claims on those figures.
