Manchester United have now agreed a deal with Napoli to sell Alejandro Garnacho to the Italian side this month.

That’s according to Ruleta Sport journalist Gerardo Fasano, speaking to Area Napoli, who insists Scott McTominay has been key to the deal.

Reports over the last 24 hours have made it clear Manchester United and Napoli are discussing a deal for the Argentine forward.

The Italian side are on the hunt for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratshkelia, who has left to join Paris Saint Germain. Antonio Conte has reportedly asked for Garnacho as his replacement. Napoli are now pushing to make a deal happen.

There has been increased confidence from Italy that a deal will be done before the end of the transfer window. Fasano now adds to that confidence with his latest comments.

“The negotiation concluded positively yesterday evening,” he said.

“Only the bureaucratic details will be taken care of today and tomorrow, as I stated yesterday. Aurelio De Laurentiis was decisive who satisfied Antonio Conte and unblocked the negotiation by offering €55m including bonuses. In addition to the coach, Scott McTominay would also have influenced the choice of Alejandro Garnacho.”

It seems, then, that negotiations between Napoli and Manchester United are now in their final stages.

Several reports had made it clear that they were holding out for €70m for Garnacho but have now settled for €15m less. That’s at least when it comes to a fixed fee. There is every chance bonuses will take it higher.

We’ll wait for more reports before getting properly excited, but Fasano at least is now insistent the deal is done and will be happening.
