Yesterday was an interesting day in the Granit Xhaka saga, as a Swiss journalist for Il Corriere del Ticino claimed that a number of clubs were after the Arsenal man.

The midfielder appears to be heading towards an exit in January after his falling out with the Emirates crowd during the Crystal Palace game, and Milan are among the clubs interested.

That was confirmed by Marcello Pelizzari, and now we have a second Swiss journalist, RSI’s Giacomo Moccetti, talking to Planeta Milan, who is also saying the same thing.

He said: “I can confirm that Newcastle and Milan are the two teams that are currently negotiating with Xhaka. The first would logistically be the simplest solution because he would stay in England and in a league he knows.

“With Milan, there’s a reciprocal serious interest and it’s true that he has gathered information in Milan of where he could live. He wouldn’t mind going back to the Bundesliga either, but there’s no option there at the moment. Inter have more appeal than Milan, because they are in the Champions League and in a better period, but there aren’t real talks with them”.

That’s interesting in itself, since Pelizzari said there might be something with Borussia Dortmund and a reunion with Lucien Favre there, but Moccetti doesn’t believe that’s the case.

Either way, there seems to be a lot of activity around Granit Xhaka, and the more this goes on, the likelier he is to be sold by Arsenal in January.
