Bayern Munich wanted Leroy Sané last summer, but any hope of a possible move ended after he suffered a serious injury in August 2019. The winger is yet to return to action with the first team.
Earlier this month, news coming out of Germany explained Sané’s recent injury ‘raises doubts’ for the Bundesliga side, when it comes to spending in excess of €100m on him.
Marc Behrenbeck, reporter for Sky in Germany, once again relays the aforementioned claims and provides further information on the 24-year-old’s future at the Etihad.
Behrenbeck states there are three parties in any potential move for the player and Sané is one among them. The journalist states the wideman wants to leave the English city.
“He wants to leave the city. He and his family want to turn their backs on Manchester,” Behrenbeck said.
Sané’s contract with Pep Guardiola’s side runs down in 2021 and there’s been speculation in England the attacker signing an extension at Manchester City cannot be ruled out.
Behrenbeck, however, claims Sané is unhappy with his role with the Premier League winners and is looking for a club who can offer him a better economic proposal.
“He wants to be the star; you can hear that. He didn’t get that kind of appreciation [at City]. It is also important to Sane that his new club can offer him a highly paid contract.”
