Even though Antony continues to be reported as one of Manchester United’s main targets for the end of the transfer window, the Dutch media seems to be changing their mind whether the Red Devils will actually make a move for the Ajax star.
On De Telegraaf’s podcast, journalist Mike Verweij started by claiming that Erik ten Hag may no longer be interested in taking the winger to Old Trafford.
“Antony has long been no longer an option from the United side,” claimed Verweij (via Soccer News).
Then Verweij pointed out that even Antony shouldn’t be that interested in making that move now. Both because of the poor start Manchester United had in the league, and due to the good time he’s been having at Ajax lately.
“Antony will also think twice if he goes to Manchester.
“If you see how much fun Ajax had yesterday with the front three and Dusan Tadic behind it… In the end he will make a big step, but there can now be a line through Antony to United.”
Earlier today, we covered claims from Goal Brasil which insisted that Manchester United are in no hurry to sign Antony.
With Ajax requesting €80m for the transfer, it was said the Red Devils want to wait until the final days of the transfer window and try to get to a fair deal with the Eredivisie giants.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian, who did not rule out a move when speaking to the Dutch press at the weekend, is said to be waiting for things to develop without forcing his way out.
