Manchester City allowed Philippe Sandler to join Anderlecht on a season-long loan deal in the summer.

The centre-back has featured regularly for the Jupiler Pro League side, making 10 appearances in all competitions. However, he has not appeared for Anderlecht since the last international break due to an injury.

On October 25th, Het Laatste Nieuws reported there is a ‘hint of mystery’ over the City owned player’s latest setback. It was also explained the Dutchman travelled to Spain to consult a specialist, but no additional details were provided then.

More concerns were raised when Het Nieuwsblad explained earlier this week that the defender visited Ramon Cugat in Barcelona.

Two days ago, Anderlecht coach Frank Vercauteren confirmed Adrien Trebel will undergo a surgery after the midfielder suffered a knee injury.

Journalist Christophe Franken and DH’s head of football now claims Sandler must also go under the knife as the City defender is struggling with a knee injury.

“Sandler will have to be operated too, the same kind as for Trebel,” Franken tweeted on Thursday.
