Throughout the January transfer window, Everton were linked to numerous midfielders, and Napoli’s Allan was one of them.
Reports suggested that Carlo Ancelotti was keen on a reunion with the midfielder, whom he worked with during his two years in Naples.
Allan seemed equally keen on the move, with several claims that he wanted a transfer to the Premier League and would be open to joining Everton if they made their move.
Ultimately that never happened, with Everton instead going through the transfer window without signing anyone and Allan remaining at Napoli.
Still, that hasn’t quashed the rumours, with suggestions the Toffees could come back in the summer and the Brazilian is one of several big names who could be leaving the Italian side in something of an overhaul of the squad.
It seems, though, that the Blues did indeed try to get their man last month, at least as far as Corriere dello Sport journalist Fabio Mandarini is concerned.
“Allan will surely go away next summer,” he claimed on TeleVomero show Fuorigioco, relayed by Arena Napoli.
“He could have already left last January, Ancelotti’s Everton wanted to take him to the Premier League, they had made an offer to Napoli.
“Napoli lost Allan last year when he didn’t let him go to PSG. When the renewal talks go on for so long, it means that something is wrong.”
