Romelu Lukaku has struggled since he returned to Chelsea last summer and has also lost prominence under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge in the last two months.
The striker’s poor form with the Blues this season has seen him linked to Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.
Antonio Conte is currently in charge at the north London club. It was under his orders at the San Siro that the 28-year-old starred for the Nerazzurri, and was vital in helping them win the Scudetto last season.
The Italian manager’s presence at Spurs has seen them named as one of the contenders to sign the striker, along with the Serie A winners.
Italian journalist Fabio Bergomi told Calciomercato.it’s CMIT TV that the current situation at Chelsea would give Inter an advantage to sign the Belgium international. A potential deal, however, could be made complicated by Lukaku’s agent since he is not in favour of his client returning to the San Siro.
“They tell me it’s on the home stretch. The salary is reduced, the payment is not complicated due to the problems of Chelsea,” Bergomi said, when discussing Lukaku’s possible return to Inter.
“The only one who doesn’t want to bring him [to Inter] is agent [Federico] Pastorello, because if he takes it to other places like Tottenham or PSG maybe he earns more.
“But this time in my opinion he is silent because he has already earned from the transfer to Chelsea, and he listens to the player.”
