With the arrival of a new manager inevitably comes stories about player exits.

For example, when José Mourinho was appointed to succeed Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United, Juan Mata was the immediate target by the media as the most likely to go.

However, another keeps being repeated in the European media as a potential departure, and that is Matteo Darmian.

The defender arrived to Old Trafford last summer thanks to Louis Van Gaal, and enjoyed a great start to the season.

However, injuries and poor performances saw Antonio Valencia end the season as Manchester United’s starting right-back, with the Italian coming off the bench.

Well, La Reppublica in Italy seem to make it clear that José Mourinho isn’t the full-back’s biggest fan as he thinks the club might be better off without him.

In their Thursday edition transfer round-up the Italian newspaper states the Portuguese manager would ‘willingly sell’ Matteo Darmian to Juventus were they to make their interest official.

This is the first we’ve seen such conviction in a report about Mourinho’s stance on Darmian, and considering La Repubblica are well respected, we will be keeping an eye on this.
