Manchester United manager José Mourinho is a man who’s really proud of his achievements. Just this season, we’ve literally lost count of how many times he’s counted the number of Premier League titles he has won.
Now it seems the Special One is also a bit nostalgic about his Champions League trophies, especially his first one, which he won with Porto.
The Portuguese side are facing Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen this Tuesday, which is the same city where the Dragons won the Champions League final against Monaco back in 2004.
Of course Porto are remembering that visit, and that’s why the local press has a couple of stories about it.
But even with so much going on at Manchester United, it seems that José Mourinho couldn’t forget about this past glory either.
Porto president Pinto da Costa has spoken to Porto Canal about the trip, and revealed that José Mourinho has sent him a message recalling that title.
“It was a fantastic night. We beat Monaco, who had eliminated Chelsea and Real Madrid to reach the final. It was a memorable night that no one will forget”, Pinto da Costa told Porto Canal (via Record).
“Curiously, when I came here I received a message from José Mourinho saying, ‘President, let’s get back to the same result of 2004. A hug.’ It’s a way of showing that he really lived it intensely and will not forget that fantastic night.”
