Monday was all over the place for the French media.
First came news from Goal France that Paris Saint-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi had taken a return flight to England to visit an unnamed Premier League, heavily speculated to be Manchester United.
This was swiftly denied by a couple of journalists present at Clairefontaine with the France team, who said the player had never left the training centre and was even present at the team lunch.
Taking things further on Tuesday, the same journalist, L’Equipe’s Guillaume Dufy, who first dismissed reports of Matuidi travelling to England reported the France medical team had denied the player had passed a medical with Manchester United.
This constant linking of the French midfielder to the Premier League club comes after two players (Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan) represented by the same agent as Matuidi’s (Mino Raiola) have signed for (or are on the verge of signing) for United.
Mr Dufy, however, did admit that the club were actively pursuing the Paris Saint-Germain player as he is a priority of Mourinho, who could land his man for as little as €25m (he is 29, after all).
Le staff des Bleus dément une visite médicale de @ManUtd pour @MATUIDIBlaise qui est en revanche une cible de José Mourinho #foot

We’re guessing the arrival of Grzegorz Krychowiak might have something to do with all this transfer talk around Matuidi.
