There is always drama around Napoli and right now is no different.
Out of the title race but still with a good chance of fighting for a Champions League place for next season, this campaign hasn’t been a complete disaster, yet there’s often rumours of one kind or another around manager Gennaro Gattuso.
Over the weekend there were claims on Italian TV that Gattuso will be leaving Napoli at the end of the season, and that’s seen Wolves dragged into the drama.
AreaNapoli report on claims that Jorge Mendes has offered Gattuso to Wolves, which feels like something of a stretch. The agent’s first client in his career was Nuno Espirito Santo, and he’s surely not going to be working behind his compatriot’s back in favour of Gattuso.
The Italian arguably isn’t close to being an upgrade on Wolves’ current manager, despite their difficult season. Only if Espirito Santo has decided to leave Wolves would Mendes’ involvement really make any sense, and even then it’s likely the club would be looking at options other than Gattuso.
