Just when you thought the Amadou Diawara to Wolverhampton story had finally disappeared for good, someone brings it back from the dead.
This time it’s RAI’s Ciro Venerato who is the culprit, speaking to CalcioNapoli24, explaining Jorge Mendes had taken the matter into his own hands to try and get a deal over the line.
The journalist told the website the super agent had offered Napoli ‘€30m’ for the Guinea international in order to move him to Molineux, yet it isn’t the club who said no.
Despite starting just seven games under Carlo Ancelotti this season, the 21-year-old decided to turn down a move to Wolverhampton, although the reason why isn’t explained.
Perhaps he feels that with a Europa League campaign looming in the second half of the season, he might get opportunities he wasn’t given when the club were in the Champions League.
Either way, the latest slant is that Diawara doesn’t want to move to Wolverhampton, meaning Napoli’s stance in all of this matters little.
Even if they had accepted the €30m, he seemingly wouldn’t have moved.
