What sounds like relatively good news is coming from Spain this afternoon on Jonny Otto.
The Wolves fullback, on loan for the season from Atletico Madrid, was injured on Sunday whilst playing against Bosnia. After the match he was seen on crutches, and there was a lot of pessimism in the Spanish media about his situation.
Marca said it was a ‘disturbing injury’ and pointed out that Real Madrid’s Nacho has missed two months with a similar issue.
The official RFEF statement read: ‘With the exploration in the dressing room and where the internal pain is located, the picture is compatible with a lesion of the medial collateral ligament that, although pending definition, could be a grade II-III.’
A grade III is a complete tear, and a serious injury.
However, Mundo Deportivo report Jonny today attended Sanitas La Moraleja, a medical facility, where further tests were carried out on the right knee.
Following these tests, it’s stated the lay-off time will between five and six weeks. That sees him out of action for the rest of this year, but sounds better than the worst news could have been for Wolves.
