Earlier this week we covered claims from Italy on the future of Diego Laxalt, who is spending the current season on loan at Celtic from AC Milan.

It was reported Neil Lennon has been impressed by the player, and that Celtic would look to try and make the loan permanent when it comes to an end next summer. Lennon’s future was considered key, with the manager under huge pressure this season as Celtic drop behind their Glasgow rivals Rangers.

Should a new man be brought in then it was suggested Laxalt could return to Milan, to allow whoever takes over at Celtic to assess his squad. A move to the Scottish Premiership club could then be concluded at a later date.

Celtic are not the only club keen on Laxalt, according to Thursday morning claims from Italy. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Al-Hilal have offered the player a three year contract worth ‘almost’ €3m a season.

That’s a figure likely to be after tax, so is very tempting. However, Laxalt has rejected the approach and sees signing for Celtic next summer as his ‘priority’.
