Since Crystal Palace share owner John Textor took over Botafogo, several reports in Brazil claimed there could soon be a partnership between the two clubs.
The businessman already made it clear he’d like to move players between his clubs, and there’s now a specific case being talked about.
Botafogo are looking to keep Matheus Nascimento at the club, and that will be a hard task, following recent interest from Real Madrid. So speaking to Reuters, John Textor revealed that his idea is to attract the player with a new contract where he could get experience at European sides by being loaned out every year.
“We’re offering a contract that is extremely lucrative to him as a player but we are also hardwiring in the contract a guarantee first team roster spot in Europe with the clubs in which we have ownership,” Textor told Reuters.
“He’d play for Botafogo but the season in Brazil ends on November 15th. So I can put him in a three month loan in Europe in a first team roster for him to learn what it’s like to be a top level pro.”
Reuter points out that Crystal Palace and Lyon are two of the clubs partly owned by Textor, therefore being the obvious destinations Matheus Nascimento could have.
The striker has seven goals in 23 appearances for Botafogo this season, and is one of the most promising prospects at the club. His contract, however, expires in 2023, so his situation at the Rio de Janeiro side is quite delicate.
