Earlier today, we covered claims from the Portuguese press which said Raul Jimenez is close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers on a loan deal.

As reported by O Jogo, the Benfica striker would join the Championship winners on a one-year spell, with the English club paying a €5m fee for him.

Now we’ve been reading a little about Jimenez’ current situation, and it turns out that he’s recently talked about the possibility of a loan transfer out of Benfica.

Jimenez has given an interview to Mexican newspaper Record this week, with the World Cup being the main subject in the chat.

But the interview included some of his struggles as a footballer, and when speaking of the little game time he’s been having in Lisbon, the player has revealed that a loan has already gone through his mind.

“Between the minutes I have and the goals I scored, I think I have a good average. I would like to play more, but it is the manager’s decisions, we have to accept and continue to fight,” Jimenez told Record.

“It never occurred to me to throw the towel. Sometimes I thought about being loaned, to recover this game time.”

With his will in his mind, maybe a spell at Wolves is what Jimenez needs for next season.
