It was now time for Sporting manager Jorge Jesus to have his say on Adrien Silva’s transfer to Leicester City.

In a press conference, the Sporting boss spoke of his disappointment that Adrien won’t be able to play football for Leicester until January, and sent a lot of praise to the midfielder.

“Adrien is a great player, so he had the opportunity to go to a league he dreamed of,” Jesus said (via A Bola).

“He was always with an exemplary attitude until the last day , but now he is no longer our player. I feel sorry for him having to stay three or four months without playing, it will not be good for him, also because of the national team.

“I don’t how he’s going to overcome this situation, but I wish him the best of luck in the world and that he can do in England what he has done here in the last two years.”

Jesus’ quotes confirm that Sporting are not expecting the player to be back, which goes along with everything else coming from the Portuguese club.

Adrien Silva has already taken his personal belongings from Sporting’s training centre, said goodbyes to his teammates earlier this week and was obviously not included in the Champions League squad.

Now Leicester City, Sporting and Adrien are all planning to appeal against FIFA’s decision so he can be registered by the Foxes as a summer signing.

In case FIFA reject the appeal, then he’ll have to wait until January to play again. That’s a huge blow for Leicester and especially for the player, who already had his transfer to the Foxes blocked by Sporting last summer.
