The Colombian media follow absolutely everything James Rodriguez does during his time at Everton.
As a club, the Toffees have seen their profile rise hugely in the South American country and that’s almost all down to their signing from Real Madrid, with a little added interest thrown in for Yerry Mina.
Recent coverage of James certainly hasn’t all been positive, with several personalities from Colombian football questioning the Everton man’s approach to fitness, and insisting he needs to show a high standard on a consistent basis rather than just flashes here and there.
James’ recent absences have brought frustration, with the media in the player’s home country tired of the repeat injuries which have plagued their star man down the years. They want him performing well and every week for Carlo Ancelotti’s side so he can then be important for the national team too.
Fingers crossed, the 29-year-old should be returning to the pitch very soon, using the international break as a chance to get himself back to full fitness.
The player has been speaking a lot via Twitch, and even though he’s recently been irritated with all the questions about his fitness, he’s now provided an update.
Colombia’s Caracol quote James as saying: “I’ll play again for the next game, April 3rd, I think. I’m very well thank God, and I want to play again.”
Everton don’t play anyone on April 3rd, so he’s likely referring to the match against Crystal Palace on the 5th.
