Victor Lindelof has played 13 matches for Manchester United so far this season, despite a couple of niggling fitness issues being picked up along the way.
Returning to the side against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, the defender put in a good display to help his team win the match 3-1. Afterwards, he made it clear how good it feels to be back in the routine, and winning games at club level.
Now away with the Swedish national team squad, Lindelof spoke at a press conference on Monday and covered the issues he’s had with an injury picked up against Chelsea recently.
Fotbollskanalen quote him as saying: “It’s the toe I had trouble with. I got a knock against Chelsea and then it got infected so I’ve gone on antibiotics. But now there are no problems at all and it felt great this weekend.”
Sweden face Romania on Friday, and should they win they’ll have secured qualification for Euro 2020. The Manchester United player made it clear he’s happy to have got 90 minutes against Brighton so he feels more prepared for the challenge ahead with his country.
Asked how he feels his career has gone over the past year, after picking up a national award for the best defender, Lindelof said: “Looking at the calendar year, individually it has been a good year. I think I have developed a lot and got to play many games at a very high level. I have developed a little bit of everything possible. I have honed in on details, improved what I am already good at, and taken more responsibility on the pitch.”
