Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has spoken to the Swedish media about the new regime under Marcelo Bielsa and how it’s helped him to get into shape.
In the past week the Swede has spoken to the English press with regards to the impact the Argentine coach has had with the training methods he’s introduced.
Speaking to Expressen, the Leeds United confirmed he’s lost four kilos: “When I came back I was in good shape. I feel lighter and stronger, that’s an incredible difference. To be as big as I am, and drop these kilos, it makes a difference. I think of everything I eat and drink.
“I’ve completely removed alcohol and it has helped me the most. Sometimes I would have a beer after a match, but you do not mind doing this for Leeds.”
Jansson was given extra time off by Leeds United following his country’s exploits in this summer’s World Cup and has been eased back into the fold by Bielsa. The former Malmo man was again used as a substitute last Friday in the 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough.
Bielsa is renowned for his tough training sessions and it seems this has rubbed off on the 27 year old defender, with the team also benefiting from this.
Leeds United currently top the Championship table after six games and are unbeaten in the league.
