Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Lazio were the clubs that showed interest in taking Polish midfielder Jan Biegański in the winter market.
That’s what WP SportoweFakty are reporting and they add the list of interested clubs, which includes the Reds and the two London sides could have made the 18-year-old ‘dizzy’.
It’s claimed the Premier League winners ‘wanted him’, but he decided against joining Jürgen Klopp’s side or another other club from a top five European league.
Instead, the Poland U19 international decided not to leave his country and agreed to join Lechia Gdańsk on a free transfer last month. He signed a contract with them until 2025.
The website states Biegański is ‘one of the most talented Polish footballers of the young generation’. The clubs who came forward to show interest is partly a proof of it, but Biegański wasn’t willing to take the big step so early in his career.
“There is no point in going deep into a foreign club right away. History shows that many guys come back from there and have problems breaking into PKO Ekstraklasa,” he told WP SportoweFakty.
“My opinion is that if I manage in Lechia Gdańsk, the next step will be abroad. However, I am fully aware that I have to work and develop step by step.”
Apart from the aforementioned reasons, the player also admitted a move to Lechia Gdańsk improves his chances of playing for the national team.
“I believe that I have chosen the best path, also in this respect. I am convinced that this is the right moment to take a step forward,” Biegański explained.
“With the Polish U19 team, we have the first stage of qualifying for the European Championship in March and I hope we will be able to move on and play at this tournament.”
