Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode was linked with a move to Brentford in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa were also mentioned as an interested party, but it was Brentford whose bid wasn’t seen as enough by Fiorentina.
La Viola sporting director Daniele Prade had already confirmed he’d rejected offers from England and that’s now been backed up by a source from the player’s agency.
Kayode is managed by Vigo Global Sport and Andrea Ritorni, the head scout at the agency, has spoken about the player’s situation and how things were in the summer.
“What Prade said in the press conference about Michael is the truth. In the summer Brentford and Aston Villa were interested in him.
“But it was Fiorentina’s desire not to let him go.”
The defender hasn’t quite been a regular for Fiorentina this season and Ritorni addressed how the campaign has been so far.
“He continues to train with confidence and seriousness, always at 101%, waiting as is right for Palladino’s choices and his moment to go on the field and win. When he is called, he will be ready.”
The 20-year-old has made just one Serie A appearance so far, having yet to play in the last three games.
He’s played twice in the Conference League and that might suggest he is a squad player, unless that changes perhaps Aston Villa and Brentford can have another shot in the near future.
