In the summer window, Kasper Schmeichel joined Celtic on a free transfer and signed a one-year contract with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The goalkeeper has impressed for Celtic so far, keeping four clean sheets and conceding one goal from five games this season.
Schmeichel’s displays for Celtic will have helped maintain his place in the Denmark squad for this month’s international break.
Tipsbladet state the uncertainty around the national team ‘means nothing’ to the Celtic player.
Kasper Hjulmand stepped down as Denmark manager in July and they are yet to appoint his successor. Morten Wieghorst and Lars Knudsen have been appointed as interim managers for September’s international break.
The Red and Whites registered victories over Switzerland and Serbia in the UEFA Nations League fixtures this month. The Celtic stopper kept clean sheets in both matches.
Denmark will take on Spain and Switzerland in October, and they will at least try to have a new permanent manager in place for these two fixtures. Tipsbladet insist the former Leicester City star won’t lose sleep over this subject.
“It’s football. We’ve all experienced it before at various clubs, with coaching changes and uncertainty. It’s part of football,” he said.
Denmark only scored two goals in four matches at Euro 2024, but things have improved in the last two games. The Celtic star refuses to dwell too much into their recent displays.
“I have always said that it is only about one thing. Of course, you want to play exciting and beautiful football, but it’s only about winning. And we have done that,” Schmeichel explained.
“On top of that, I also think that we have played some really good football. Today we delivered some more controlled and considered football. I think we deliver two really good games.”
