Brighton and Hove Albion defender Valentín Barco has insisted he has no intention of leaving Sevilla in the January transfer window.
El Chiringuito have managed to speak to the defender today, taking the opportunity to bring up the topic of a potential transfer.
Barco has been with Sevilla since the summer, joining them on loan from Brighton in the hope of securing regular playing time and continuing his development.
Instead, he has found himself on the sidelines at Sevilla so far, with a handful of appearances failing to convince anyone that he should be a regular.
Several reports over the last week have made it clear that his loan deal could be brought to a swift end, with one today even indicating Sevilla would be open to swapping him for Brighton teammate Julio Enciso.
All indications from Spain have been that Sevilla have given up and would prefer to send the 20-year-old back to Brighton and use their loan spot on someone else.
It seems that would be against Barco’s wishes, though, as he bit back at the suggestion he could be sent back to England.
“I have a quick question, how are you? There are a lot of rumours about your future, how are you?” he was asked by the El Chiringuito journalist.
“I’m fine, calm,” the Brighton man replied, before adding “no, for now it’s all lies” when asked about a transfer.
He was then asked if he wanted to stay in January, to which he replied “Yes, I want to play and add minutes.”
