Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has ‘already started working on’ a deal to buy Inter Milan from the Zhang family.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say that, according to their information, the Leeds supremo is ‘very interested’ in the Nerazzurri club, backing up previous claims from Bloomberg.
The website explains that Radrizzani plans to ‘form a consortium’ and then present an offer to Zhang, who is currently surrounded by creditors and may be forced into a sale.
Radrizzani has long been interested in Inter Milan and was even at the club in October, although that was to do with potential transfer business at Leeds.
Now he is seriously considering a move to purchase the club and they have learned that ‘with all reasonable certainty’ that he will form a consortium, similar to what the other potential buyers, Investcorp, are planning to do.
Radrizzani’s plan is to form a group based of mainly built up of people he already knows, although he has not yet ruled out the possibility of bringing in investors from the Middle East.
He would first, however, needs to sell his shares in Leeds. He currently owns 56% of the club and the plan is to sell that holding to the investors of the San Francisco 49ers, although that is dependent on Leeds staying in the Premier League.
At the moment he is yet to make a proposal for Inter but he has already begun to work on forming one ‘under the radar’.
Zhang, for his part, is not inclined to sell the Italian club for anything less than €1bn, but a growing line of creditors needing to be paid could force his hand and open the door for Radrizzani.
