A José Mourinho favourite at Old Trafford, Marouane Fellaini’s contract situation is sending a few tongues wagging around Europe, with a number of clubs said to be keeping an eye on a potential free transfer.

Becoming an important player in Paul Pogba’s absence, the Belgian himself went down injured during the last international break, and only just returned to enjoy a short cameo against Chelsea.

Roberto Martinez leaving him out of the last Belgium squad will have pleased his club manager, yet the rumours of a summer exit refuse to go away.

With his deal expiring at the end of June and an apparent reluctance to prolong his Manchester United adventure for now, Inter are the latest club to have been linked with Fellaini.

Leggo in Italy are the ones pushing the story, explaining Luciano Spalletti’s first move will be to get Javier Pastore from Paris Saint-Germain in January before focusing on Manchester United’s ‘complete midfielder’ (that’s what they call him) in June.

Arsenal and Besiktas are also thrown in the mix to provide some alleged competition for the Serie A side, just in case.

This wouldn’t be the first time Inter plucked a free agent from Old Trafford, having convinced Nemanja Vidic to continue his career in Italy.

Then again, most players probably wanted to leave Manchester United at that point, having been managed by David Moyes for a year.
