Despite being top of the table, Chelsea were reportedly in the recruiting business on Tuesday.

Never actually signing anyone, stories popped up left, right and centre about Antonio Conte wanting a few players to bolster his squad.

While a lot of attention was being paid to Moussa Dembélé’s trip to London to get his knee scanned, reports emerged that Chelsea had made a bid for Inter Milan’s Jonathan Biabiany.

The French winger, who has only made three appearances for Inter Milan so far this season, saw the bid accepted, but refused to move to Stamford Bridge, with Sky Sports reporting he ‘preferred a move to China’.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport have other reasons as to why the 28-year-old rejected the move to London.

The Italian newspaper state the player didn’t want a ‘sudden change of environment’ and was worried he wouldn’t be a regular under Antonio Conte.

Biabiany also felt that if he was going to get anywhere, it would probably be with Inter rather than at Chelsea.

The French forward has only played 149 minutes of football this season, all in the Europa League, spread over three appearances.
