Chelsea were repeatedly linked to Radja Nainggolan during the summer transfer window, but the Belgian didn’t want to leave AS Roma.

Feeling very settled in the Italian capital, there appeared little reason for Nainggolan to leave other than to earn more money at Chelsea. A compromise was set to see Nainggolan get a big pay rise but that hasn’t arrived yet.

There have been claims Antonio Conte’s Chelsea would revive their interest in the 28-year-old in January, but the AS Roma star has no regrets on rejecting them in the summer.

Nainggolan has been speaking to Sky Sports Italia, and reiterated he is happy at AS Roma, as he believes they can win silverware.

He said: “I chose to stay here and I’m happy with my choice because I believe that here we can win and that’s what I want to do. Then we are always talking about AS Roma, a great club. I have no regrets at not signing for Chelsea.”

One of the main reasons Chelsea failed in their bid to sign Nainggolan in the summer was because the player himself didn’t show any interest in switching clubs. The Premier League side must make it more tempting for Nainggolan to sign for them, as that again appears to be the stumbling block.
