We’ve repeated several times this week (and you’re probably as bored as we are) that the Italian press have moved on from Paul Pogba. They very much think it’s a sure thing and this week saw something of a change in their reporting.
On Friday Gazzetta dello Sport have published a small piece talking about the departure and potential replacements. Axel Witsel, Blaise Matuidi and Luiz Gustavo are the three gentlemen considered more likely at the moment.
Gazzetta call the Pogba announcement situation a soap opera. They say today could be the day, but that isn’t a claim, just a guess like we’ve all been speculating.
Interestingly they explain why there’s been a delay. It’s stated everything is agreed, but the deal is so complex that lawyers are having to write and check contracts covering the fee, image rights, agent fees, and various percentages.
Gazzetta reckon it has to be done by the end of the weekend, simply because Pogba is due back at Juve on Sunday. Easier, they believe, is Pogba flying to Manchester to have his official photographs taken, something which can be done in advance, just like Granit Xhaka with Arsenal.
