Norwich City are close on reaching an agreement to sign Modibo Diakité, according to reports from the Italian press.
Sport Media Set claims that a deal is very close with the player potentially signing for the former Premier League side as a free agent.
Diakité was released from Sampdoria at the end of last season, and despite being linked with a move to a few sides, is yet to find a new club so far.
This would be the player’s second spell in England, as the player already played for Sunderland AFC. He signed for the Black Cats from Lazio on a free in 2013 and stayed at the club until 2014, when he was also released.
The central defender also played for Deportivo La Coruña, Cagliari and Frosinone before signing for Sampdoria.
He played 27 matches for the Italian side last season, so despite struggling to find a club, he hasn’t exactly been sidelined for that long.
