Yesterday, we covered an interview from Florian Thauvin with La Provence where the forward made it clear, without realising he was making it clear, that he would prefer a move away from Newcastle for next season, and a few clubs were interested.
The player addressed directly Marseille’s interest to keep him on loan for an extra season, and said he wasn’t ‘insensitive’ to their interest, but was also asked about Marcelo Bielsa.
The player said the Argentinean manager was a ‘great coach’, that he made him progress, but that talk of a move to Italy was premature, and that it wasn’t his place to do so.
Well, Corriere dello Sport decided to take it upon themselves to speak for him, and have a rather big article on the player potentially moving to Lazio, pretty much based on Thauvin’s quotes in La Provence.
They discuss where he would fit in Bielsa’s plans, his height and that a deal could be done for a fee of between €12-13m (around £10m).
There’s not a lot in it, just speculation, so if you see an article linking Thauvin to Lazio and they make it sound serious, it’s not.
At least for the time being.
