Liverpool are in the mix to sign US Lecce youngster Patrick Dorgu in the summer window, according to a report from Italy.
The left-back joined the Serie A side from FC Nordsjælland a year ago. He’s yet to make an appearance for their senior team and represented Lecce Primavera last season, making 38 appearances.
His displays for Lecce Primavera seem to have pleased Liverpool. Calciomercato say the Reds are ‘ready to lunge’ after their scouts watched the 18-year-old live on several occasions in ‘recent months’.
Earlier this year, the Italian club extended the Denmark U19 international’s deal until 2027. This hasn’t put off the Premier League side from planning an ‘assault’ on the young talent.
It’s stated Liverpool are ‘now ready to snatch’ the fullback away from the Italian club in this window. There’s no mention whether Dorgu and/or Lecce are ready to do business with the English club.
Jürgen Klopp had Andrew Robertson and Konstantinos Tsimikas as the two left-backs last season. If Liverpool were to be successful in bringing Dorgu to England, he’s likely to start with their youth team rather than play under the German’s orders next season.
