Serie A side Salernitana are in talks for the signing of Sheffield United striker Lys Mousset, according to reports from the Italian media.
Website Tutto Mercato Web writes that ‘surprisingly’, the club are ‘negotiating the arrival’ of the 25-year-old on a loan deal.
There are not many more details on Salernitana’s bid, as if they’d pay any kind of fee or afford Mousset’s wages. It’s just said that the offer is for him to stay in Italy until the end of the season.
The striker has been of little use for Sheffield United this season, getting only 320 minutes in seven Championship appearances.
Signed on a €11m deal from Bournemouth in 2019, Mousset could never meet the expectations with the Blades, having a record of nine goals and four assists in 53 appearances for the club.
Now with his contract expiring in the summer, a loan now would result on his free departure from Sheffield United, unless the a contract extension is agreed before the move.
