With Alvaro Morata seemingly keen to leave Stamford Bridge just a year after arriving from Real Madrid, Chelsea could be forced to look for a new striker this summer.

At least, that’s what the Italian press seem keen to push recently, with Gonzalo Higuain apparently top of their list to replace the Spaniard.

Calciomercato on Friday believe the interest from Chelsea for the Argentina striker is real, having already taken the first steps towards a transfer said to be independent from the arrival of Maurizio Sarri.

The Italian website reveal the Blues have made ‘direct contact’ with the player’s entourage, with a ‘clear message’ from Roman Abramovich’s club: Higuain is a real target, but not at any price.

Since this story started a couple of months ago, the numbers have always been similar, with Juventus believing an exit at around €65m would allow them to make their money back after taking into account the player’s depreciation.

Should a first offer be made by Chelsea, Calciomercato don’t think it’ll be more than €45-50m, which isn’t enough for the Serie A champions.

It’s basically a situation that Juventus don’t particularly want to sell, but if the right offer comes along, they won’t reject it.
