As you might expect, every man, woman and their respective family pets have had their say on Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United.
The huge move caused equally huge waves across the world yesterday, with the speed of the whole thing and the emotion involved sending everyone, most of all Manchester United fans, into a frenzy.
They’re delighted to see the Portuguese star back at Old Trafford, and it seems it’s a sentiment shared by his family, with his sister Katia Aveiro publishing on Instagram with a tag ‘Welcome back to United, a club worthy of you’.
That would seem to be something of a jab at Juventus, and it’s fair to say Gazzetta Dello Sport are not very impressed.
They cover the post today and say Katia was ‘removing a few stones from her shoes’ with the comment, which is a ‘mockery’ aimed at Juventus.
They say she did not ‘miss the opportunity’ to ‘shoot an arrow’ against the Turin club, labelling her effort as ‘venomous’.
This is not the first time Ronaldo’s family have been critical on social media, with his sister Elma also recently posting in less than glowing terms after the match against Udinese.
This latest ‘dig’ at Juventus is one in a long line of ‘cutting comments’ say the newspaper, with the most famous coming when Maurizio Sarri was in charge.
Following the Coppa Italia defeat to Napoli, she openly criticised the coach and his tactics, insisting her famous brother can’t work miracles on his own.
They didn’t go down well at the time, and they don’t even now, and the newspaper speculates that those ‘biting comments’ could be coming for Ole Gunnar Solskaer in future.
We’re not too sure about that personally, and we don’t think Manchester United will care if they do anyway, but at least Gazzetta have been kind enough to send out a warning and get their own shots off at Ronaldo’s sisters in the process.
