Uroš Račić has expressed his delight after leaving West Bromwich Albion for SC Braga in the winter market.
Tuesday’s edition of O Jogo has an interview with the 27-year-old, who spent the first half of the season on loan with the Baggies from Sassuolo.
The midfielder played 965 minutes from 22 games for West Brom and was a regular under Carlos Corberán. The Spaniard left the Championship club for Valencia towards the end of December.
Since Corberán’s exit from The Hawthorns, Račić’s playing time was limited at West Brom. This convinced him to leave the English club and return to Braga on loan in the winter market.
The move worked out for the Serbia international as he was a regular for Braga in the second half of this season.
“It was fantastic to come back, I was pleased with my performances, but I didn’t reach my full potential,” he said.
“I believe I can be very important, reaching my 100 % level, both in the league and in Europe. Scoring goals and being consistent.”
“I have been genuinely impressed with Braga’s progress, with everything the club has improved. I am still adapting, but I am always giving my best. I think I have shown that I can be very good in many facets of the game and that has come to the fore in important games. I have no doubts about the value, even more so, that I can bring to the team.”
The midfielder was also on loan at Braga during the 2022/23 season.
On escaping West Brom and returning to the Primeira Liga club, Račić explained: “It was like coming home, I was very happy that it happened, to return to a club that I knew well. I felt motivated to give my best in every game”
Braga have a €2.5m purchase option and the player remains hopeful they make his stay permanent. If not, he has to return to Sassuolo, where he has a contract until 2027.
“I am very excited! I hope the president does everything he can to make this possible, so that I can stay at the club and become the a Liga champion with Braga. I believe I can play an important role in European competitions,” he added.
