Napoli signed Philip Billing from Bournemouth in the winter transfer window.

The Dane arrived on an initial loan deal with the option to buy. So far, his time in Naples has not quite taken off but it should soon become better.

He played 62 minutes against Como at the weekend and that was his first appearance of the season. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s absence in the next few games is likely to hand Billing more game time and he is expected to start for Napoli in the huge clash against Inter Milan at the weekend.

Ahead of the game, the signing from Bournemouth spoke to Napoli’s official Youtube channel and was asked about a range of topics. He described playing for the Partenopei as the biggest goal of his career so far.

The midfielder said, as relayed by TuttoNapoli: “Napoli is probably the most important goal of my career so far. Here everyone loves you and wants to take pictures with you, you immediately feel that it is a warm place.

“This has an impact on us because when you step onto the pitch you play with fire inside, I think it is fantastic.”

The Dane also stated that he has always dreamt of playing in the Champions League and at the World Cup.

It has always been [a dream] to play in the Champions League and the World Cup. As a child it was to be able to play in a big club.”

Napoli are very much on track to qualify for the Champions League and if that happens, Billing should certainly achieve a dream of his. Arguably, he could not have done that with Bournemouth, who are still fighting for European qualification.

Having said that, the midfielder’s next goal should be to establish himself as a regular under Antonio Conte. It will also make sure that he potentially becomes a key player in the Champions League next season.
