Borja Sainz could be set to leave Norwich City this summer, with FC Porto getting close to the Championship side’s asking price.
That’s according to El Correo, who report that there ‘isn’t much difference’ between the Porto offer and Norwich’s asking price for the 24-year-old.
The newspaper reports that Norwich have rejected a €15m offer from Porto for Sainz, but this does not mean a transfer can be ruled out.
Sources consulted by El Correo have indicated that there isn’t much difference between what was offered by Porto and what is being requested by Norwich City. Sainz has a contract until 2026, so there is a need to do a deal or risk losing the midfielder on a free transfer next summer.
Porto were in a hurry to get a deal done before the Club World Cup deadline, where they will compete in Group A alongside Palmeiras, Al-Ahly and Inter Miami.
Athletic Club Bilbao have opened contact with the player but are yet to submit an offer to the player or Norwich. Sainz would be delighted to return to Athletic, though, having come through their academy.
For now, it is Porto who are pushing, and their last bid was close to what Norwich are requesting for him.
