On Saturday, the Brazilian media reported Manchester City youngster Kayky would be loaned to Paços de Ferreira.

UOL wrote that the clubs had been finalising the deal, and the negotiations were ‘well advanced’ for a one-year loan with no buying option.

According to the story, Manchester City see great potential in the winger, and he believes he’ll have more chances once he returns from the spell in Portugal.

Now Paços de Ferreira manager César Peixoto was asked about the deal (via Mais Futebol). He confirmed that Kayky is one of the players his club would like to sign this summer, saying “he’s a referenced player”. Still, he also added that “it isn’t guaranteed that he’s coming”.

It was in the summer of 2021 that Manchester City spent €10m to sign Kayky from Brazilian side Fluminense. In his year at the English club, he even had a few minutes in two different games, but clearly isn’t in Pep Guardiola’s immediate plans for the squad.

Perhaps with a little more experience from Portugal, he can get more chances at Manchester City next season and beyond.
