Isco is all over the Spanish media this week.
New Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari isn’t a fan, and dropped the Spanish international completely from the club’s Champions League squad this week.
That’s led to endless transfer rumours, but there’s nothing especially concrete and despite all the shouting it’s all based on old rumours linking the player with a handful of the Premier League’s top clubs.
Marca have an article on Friday and they explain Isco has a record of not being able to convince managers, despite many fans believing he’s one of the best in Spain.
The now 26 year old came through at Valencia, and Unai Emery was manager at the time.
Emery, enjoying a solid start to his life as Arsenal manager, wasn’t entirely convinced the player was ready to slot straight into his team.
Marca say the manager was worried Isco has a ‘tendency to gain kilos’.
That’s a theme which has been running in the Spanish media for a while. The footballer had appendicitis in September, and a subsequent operation. Since then there’s been a widespread insinuation he’s carrying a bit of timber.
The Spanish newspaper say that former national manager Vicente del Bosque wasn’t convinced either.
