Ipswich ‘willing to pay a lot of money’ for signing – Player decides to go elsehwere

Ipswich Town were ‘willing to pay a lot of money’ for Philadelphia striker Julián Carranza but have missed out on the player as he preferred a move to Feyenoord.

That’s according to journalist Jonathan Tannenwald, who reports that Ipswich Town were one of the ‘concrete options’ for the forward.

Carranza is on the verge of completing a move to Feyenoord, with various reports indicating that they have reached an agreement with Philadelphia to sign him this summer.

The Dutch side have seemingly been convinced to bring the Argentinian to Europe after watching him score 43 goals and register 20 assists in 95 games for Philadelphia since joining them in July 2022.

They’ve beaten various competition to his signature, with a deal now believed to be in the final stages of being completed and according to Tannenwald, Ipswich were one of those in the mix, having first expressed an interest in January.

According to him, Ipswich, Werder Bremen and FSV Mainz 05 ‘were all concrete options’ for the striker, but he wanted to wait a little longer before leaving America.

Werder and Ipswich in particular ‘were willing to pay a lot of money’ for Carranza but, he “did not think it was the right step” for him at this point in his career.

He, instead, believes Feyenoord are the ‘ideal club’ for his development and has chosen them, leaving Kieran McKenna and his side to look elsewhere for the striker they want this summer.
