Jens Cajuste joined Ipswich Town on loan from Napoli in the summer transfer window.

After a slow start to life in England, Cajuste has become a regular for Kieran McKenna’s side and has started all of their last five Premier League games. He was also their Player of the Month for December, so it’s clear he’s key for them.

The Swedish midfielder has now opened up about life at Ipswich Town and in a chat with Cronache di Spogliatoio he revealed that he initially took some time to learn about the club before agreeing to join.

He said, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb: “I’ll be honest, when the club called me I didn’t know them. I did some research, I saw videos of the two consecutive promotions, I got excited and I said yes.”

The 25-year-old was also asked about McKenna, his approach at the club and his relationship with the manager.

On that topic, Cajuste explained: “He is special because he keeps you in a bubble, excluding you from the media, from the negative thoughts around you.

“And then he knows how to see you as a person as well as a footballer, he dedicates more time than other coaches and I have had to individual interviews.”

Cajuste also spoke about why things are different for him at Ipswich Town compared to what he lived at Napoli.

He had an elaborate response, saying: “When you create a negative spiral of energy, you always dig downwards. I lived in Posillipo, I had a great time, obviously in Ipswich now everything is calmer.

“I live in the marina area and the food is not as good as in Naples. When I was little my father moved to China from Sweden for business. Growing up there made me the person I am today.”

It is quite clear that the Swede is enjoying life in England and wants to make an impact at Portman Road.

The Blues have the obligation to buy the player permanently if they stay in the Premier League and the midfielder would be seeing that as a key objective.

Perhaps someone can open a Neapolitan restaurant for him near the marina.
