Ipswich Town are one of several sides eyeing up a move for VfL Wolfsburg’s Patrick Wimmer in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Area Napoli, who report that Como and Roma are also ‘thinking about’ the 23-year-old Austrian.
They report that Wimmer is ‘being explored’ by Como, Roma and Ipswich Town this month, with the two Italian sides already making contact with intermediaries for the player.
Ipswich are also evaluating a potential purchase this month and discussions are underway with his entourage, but nothing has been finalised as yet.
Wimmer has found himself in and out of the picture for Wolfsburg this season, with 12 appearances to date in the Bundesliga and two assists to his name but just 47% of the available minutes played. That’s 858 minutes in total.
It’s not the first time Wimmer has been linked with a move to Serie A as Juventus had eyed him before the start of this season. They, though, are now looking at other positions.
Area Napoli make no mention of an asking price or whether Wimmer would be interested in Ipswich for now, just that they are in the picture and he’s a name to keep an eye on for the Tractor Boys this month.
