Newcastle United are now pulled in the race to sign Juventus star Paulo Dybala in the next window.
The forward’s contract with the Serie A side expires in June and earlier this week, the Old Lady CEO, Maurizio Arrivabene, confirmed the 28-year-old will leave the Turin club at the end of the current season.
After Arrivabene’s admission, the Argentina international has been linked to clubs in Italy and across Europe.
From England, various reports have indicated Tottenham Hotspur are in contention to sign him. Apart from Spurs, Newcastle could be an option for the former Palermo star.
That’s according to Italian agent Andrea D’Amico and he made claims about Eddie Howe’s side during an interview with Radio Marte’s Marte Sport Live, relayed by Area Napoli.
“In addition to Inter, there are few in Italy who can spend so much. Whoever takes him now, in fact, keeps him until the end: you have to want him on a technical and budgetary level because he has to have a long and important contract,” D’Amico said.
“A couple of foreign tracks are worth keeping an eye on: I am thinking of a big-league team and the Premier League. Newcastle have a Saudi fund that aims high.”
D’Amico’s comments are also relayed by Il Bianconero, they also have more claims made by the Italian on Dybala.
“A lot also depends on the technical needs of the other teams. Those who take Dybala now keep it until the end, both for the age and for the heavy contract,” he said,
“There can also be 2-3 foreign tracks, such as La Liga and Premier League . Newcastle will try, to make a high-ranking team.”
It is to be noted Jorge Antun is Dybala’s agent and there has been nothing to indicate or suggest that D’Amico would be involved in helping the representative to find a new club for the South American.
Dybala will leave Juventus as a free agent and with Newcastle now thrown into the mix, it remains to be seen whether the Magpies can tempt him to join them on a free transfer.
