João Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko were used as the two left-backs at Manchester City last season.

In the absence of a recognised left-back, Pep Guardiola has relied upon Cancelo to operate in the same position, following the Ukrainian’s move to Arsenal.

Manchester City will have to bring in a new fullback this summer and reports have said they are close to sealing a deal for Anderlecht’s Sergio Gómez.

AS on Friday explain the English champions will have to make a decision whether to include Gómez in their first team or loan him out to Girona.

The report also states Atlético Madrid’s Renan Lodi is another player on Manchester City’s agenda this summer.

On Thursday, reports in England explained the Premier League winners are interested in the 24-year-old. This is backed up by AS as they state ‘there is interest’ from Pep Guardiola’s side in the Brazil international.

They further add ‘contacts have been established’ to find out the availability and the possibility to take Lodi away from the La Liga side.

Despite City’s interest, Atlético’s high economic demands could complicate the operation in this window.
