Nahitan Nandez is preparing to make a return to action for Cagliari after an ‘endless series of physical problems’ made his start to 2022 difficult, reports Calciomercato.

A Covid-19 infection and then a knee issue have kept him away from the pitch. Now he’s set to return, Inter Milan links are being pushed again, with a reminder of interest from Leeds United and West Ham.

Inter Milan have taken ‘concrete steps’ for the player recently, having been heavily linked with Nandez last summer. At that time, Cagliari didn’t want to drop down from their €35m asking price, and the midfielder ended up refusing to fly out for a pre-season event, which resulted in drama around him.

Calciomercato report Cagliari are looking to open an ‘auction’, obviously trying to get as much as they can in the summer window. The €35m figure now seems unreasonable, says the report, but it’s stated Cagliari won’t drop that price ‘drastically’, with Leeds United and West Ham given as the reason.

The thinking appears to be that if there’s been interest from the Premier League then a big fee is still possible. That seems ambitious from Cagliari and it’s unlikely either Leeds or West Ham would pay anything like that.
