Lille owner Gérard Lopez has confirmed Tottenham are keen on midfielder Boubakary Soumaré.

Last month we covered a report from Jeunes Footeux that stated Spurs boss José Mourinho had identified two Lille midfielders as potential recruits for his new club.

Before taking the job at Tottenham, the Portuguese boss had spent plenty of time at the Ligue 1 club, and it appeared that two men, Victor Osimhen and Boubakary Soumaré, had caught his eye.

They’ve both been impressing with the French club this season and, Jeunes Footeux stated the rumour was they were on the Spurs boss’ wish-list.

Le 10 Sport later reported that there had been two offers for Soumaré, with one coming from Italy and the other the Premier League, although Tottenham were not explicitly named.

Lopez has now confirmed they are one of the clubs with their eye on the 20-year-old, although they are not the only ones keen.

“Soumaré?” It is true that there are many interested parties. From Spain, from Italy…” he told Canal +, relayed by Le 10 Sport.

“The interest of José Mourinho? I know he likes him very much, yes.

“No (Tottenham) are not the only ones interested; there are five, six clubs that are interested in him.

“Afterwards, he must also be interested in the club so we will see.”
