FC Groningen’s Gabriel Gudmundsson has emerged as a target for Manchester City.
The initial report came from Italy and Aftonbladet have been able to verify these claims. They state the 21-year-old is attracting interest from clubs in England, Germany and Italy.
It’s claimed Pep Guardiola’s side, along with Borussia Dortmund and Ajax have ‘taken a close look’ at the left-back, who can operate in any position on the left.
RB Leipzig and Napoli are also interested in the Sweden U21 international, and these two sides are at the ‘front of the queue’, ahead of City, BVB and Ajax.
Fotbollskanalen quizzed Gudmundsson regarding the latest reports linking him to City and other European sides.
“Interest is fun, but right now I’m just focusing on Groningen. I’ll take [care of] the rest after this season,” he said.
Fotbollskanalen also approached the player’s agent, Martin Dahlinm, but didn’t receive a response.
Aftonbladet’s report puts Manchester City in the picture for signing the Swede, but it’s also made clear they are behind RB Leipzig and Napoli in the queue.
Gudmundsson, who has managed five assists in 19 league matches for Groningen, has a contract with Eredivisie side until 2022.
