Over the last 24-48 hours, the idea that Aston Villa are interested in Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur has started to grow in Italy.
We covered an article on Tuesday morning about it, with Gazzetta dello Sport pushing the idea that yes, the interest was there from the Villans, and now the Serie A side are looking at potential alternatives.
The one that has appeared in the last day has been that of Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari, which could help Aston Villa in their endeavours, as the same Gazzetta explain in a new article.
This could be a boost for Steven Gerrard’s side, as well as Arsenal (who want Arthur), as the arrival of the Uruguayan would give Max Allegri a replacement body in his squad, which was one of the main worries as to why he didn’t want anyone to be sold or loaned.
It’s pointed out ‘his arrival could materialise only on the condition of the exit in this market session of Rodrigo Bentancur, on which, in these hours, the interest of Aston Villa is strong, or of Arthur, with Arsenal on the player for days’
It sounds like it could now be a race between who can convince Juventus the quickest: Gerrard’s side or Mikel Arteta’s.
Time for Aston Villa to roll up their sleeves, then.
